"Sometimes my ideas come about as I observe nature and the environment, sometimes they just appear from somewhere. Working on ideas for a production is enticing and challenging; it is essential, however, that all items are produced with the individual in mind. It is great if I succeed in transmitting to others what I have seen or experienced," says Erja Hirvi. Erja Hirvi, who graduated as a textile designer from the University of Art and Design, is known for the many textiles she has designed for Marimekko. In addition to print fabrics, she has always been interested in jewelry design. This interest was strengthened as she took courses in gemstone polishing and stonecutting at Tyrvää College of Arts and Crafts.
