CARE INSTRUCTIONS
BRONZE JEWELRY
Bronze products from Kalevala Jewelry have either a polished finish or are oxidized to add colour to the metal. Bronze is an alloy that consists of copper, tin and zinc, and typically oxidizes faster than precious metals. All our bronze jewelry has a protective lacquer coating, which prevents discoloration of the skin and delicate light-colored fabrics. This lacquer coating is eroded by various chemicals and slowly wears off. We recommend, therefore, taking off bronze jewelry while practicing sports, taking a sauna or swimming in chlorinated or salt water. Areas where the protective lacquer has worn off may be buffed with a Kalevala Jewelry polishing cloth. After cleaning the piece of jewelry with a polishing cloth, rinse the jewellery in mild soapy water so that the residue detergent from the cloth does not stain. If necessary, the protective lacquer coating can be restored by Kalevala Jewelry’s own maintenance service for a fee.
SILVER JEWELRY
Silver products from Kalevala Jewelry are manufactured in sterling silver and have either a polished finish or are oxidized to add colour to the metal. The tarnishing typical of silver may be cleaned off with a Kalevala Jewelry polishing cloth. After cleaning the piece of jewelry with a polishing cloth, rinse the jewellery in mild soapy water so that the residue detergent from the cloth does not stain. The Kalevala Jewelry polishing cloth is not suitable for cleaning stones set in silver, and we do not recommend silver polish liquids for any of our silver jewelry. Oxidized silver jewelry can be cleaned by Kalevala Jewelry’s own maintenance service for a fee.
GOLD JEWELRY
Gold products from Kalevala Jewelry are made in 18 or 14 carat gold. Gold products can be cleaned with special cleaning agents for gold, available in jewelry shops. For gold jewelry, we recommend regular care by Kalevala Jewelry’s own maintenance service to clean and polish the jewelry, and to check the setting of the stones.
JEWELRY WITH PEARLS
When wearing pearl jewelry, the jewelry should be put on last and taken off first. Wipe the pearls with a clean, soft cloth each time after wearing. For pearl jewelry we recommend regular care by Kalevala Jewelry’s own maintenance service to clean the jewelry and to check the stringing of the pearls.
We recommend washing all pieces of Kalevala Jewelry with water after each wearing. We also recommend that the jewelry be stored in its original packaging.
Kalevala Jewelry products comply with the EU nickel directive.
All Kalevala Jewelry is manufactured in Finland.

Moon goddess
On their trade trips to the east, the Vikings stopped off on the Finnish coast to trade weapons and jewelry for furs. Drawing on Viking influences on their jewelry making, the Finns added a distinct Finnish style. These pieces inspired later designers to create jewelry which captures the spirit of the Vikings. The Moon Goddess was designed during the 40s by Germund Paaer taking advantage of the most beautiful Viking ornaments.
